Budgeting Our Calories

Nov 01, 2019

Just like with money we can become much more efficient by making decisions beforehand and then sticking with our plan the same can be done with our calories.

When working to be as efficient with our money as possible we will often receive the recommendation to use a budget. For many this is a tedious, reactive process where they feel like they have to write down all of their expenses throughout the month so that they are able to track their expenditures and then report them to someone else. When we are able to tweak our mindset a little bit and become proactive in our thinking we realize that this budget is not reactive but rather empowering and proactive. Using a budget allows us to direct our money to the right places before we even have it and is really a mechanism that enables us to direct our money ahead of time rather than just write down what we’ve done while making daily decisions. We simply decide what our priorities are and allocate our money before hand in a way that enables us to reach our goals.

Journaling works very much the same way when we have decided to take control of the weight management process. Rather than sit down and trying to remember what we’ve had to eat and drink during the day the journal allows us to be proactive and direct the calories in an efficient way. We have a plan or method that allows us to reach our goals and we are able to allocate our calories for the day in a way that efficiently allow us to reach our goals. For example: Rather than walking into a restaurant and looking at the menu trying to decide what you might be able to order that “won’t be too bad”, your journal/plan allows you to confidently walk into a restaurant and execute your plan because you already know what you need to have.

Just like with money we can become much more efficient by making decisions beforehand and then sticking with our plan the same can be done with our calories.

Journaling our calories also allows us to hold ourselves accountable. We know that when we have two layers of accountability our patients have a much higher change of reaching their weight management goals. The journal is one of these layers of accountability as you are able to check yourself daily and even more if you need. Having a coach or mentor is the second layer of accountability. While there are multiple ways to manage our weight we continue to see great success with the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method. We are also able to customize our plans with our medical grade metabolic tester. No two people have the same metabolism and it makes sense that we would know and understand your specific metabolism while we are making decisions that are based on your metabolic rate.
