Microneedling and PRP

The rumor is true--we are now offering facials! Well, sort of. As many of you know, we love using regenerative medicine, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP), to help with healing and repair of injuries. This has allowed many of our patients to prolong or even put off surgery. And now, we are offering regenerative medicine to help slow down the signs of aging through microneedling.

With the use of tiny needles, microneedling encourages new collagen and elastin growth. Collagen is one of the main building blocks in our skin and keeps our skin from sagging and gives us that plump, youthful look. Elastin gives us elasticity in our skin--and when we lose it, contributes to sagging as well. By encouraging collagen and elastin production, we can reduce the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, laugh lines, crow's feet, and sun damage to name a few.

Karin, our Nurse Practitioner, has completed the required microneedling training class and truly loves being able to provide a service that helps patients look and feel better. On top of the microneedling, we can add PRP to the process, which expedites the healing process of tissues as well as produce more collagen and elastin. PRP involves using the patient's own blood, which is then spun using a centrifuge to isolate plasma and platelets. This is where the body's own proteins and growth factors activate cell migration, ultimately stimulating the body to make more collagen and elastin.

While results will vary based on needle penetration and overall skin health, it is recommended to have 3-6 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart to stimulate and maintain collagen production. So what are you waiting for? Schedule your free consultation with Karin today and regain that youthful look once again!
